"The older compilation is called the Jerusalem Talmud or the Talmud Yerushalmi. It was compiled sometime during the fourth century in Palestine. The Babylonian Talmud was compiled about the year 500 C.E., although it continued to be edited later"

"They are 2 separate works, created respectively in Babylon and in the Holy Land by different people, so they are quite different in content, despite being commentary on the same Mishnah.
The one that is followed is the Babylonian talmud, that is considered the main book of authority for all diasporas, due to its thorough editing and the greater influence of the Babylonian wise men at that time."

Job Chapter 4
16 It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; a form was before mine eyes; I heard a still voice:
17 'Shall mortal man be just before God? Shall a man be pure before his Maker?
18 Behold, He putteth no trust in His servants, and His angels He chargeth with folly;
19 How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!
20 Betwixt morning and evening they are shattered; they perish for ever without any regarding it.
21 Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.'

Exodus Chapter 23
1 Thou shalt not utter a false report; put not thy hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou bear witness in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to pervert justice;
3 neither shalt thou favour a poor man in his cause.

Historical Jewish groupings (to 1700)

Around the first century CE there were several small Jewish sects: the Pharisees, Sadducees, Zealots, Essenes, and ****ians. the Pharisees survived but in the form of Rabbinic Judaism (today, known simply as "Judaism").

Like the Sadducees who relied only on the Torah, some Jews in the 8th and 9th centuries rejected the authority and divine inspiration of the oral law of the Pharisees/rabbis, as recorded in the Mishnah (and developed by later rabbis in the two Talmuds), relying instead only upon the Tanakh. Rabbinical and Karaite Jews each hold that the others are Jews, but that the other faith is erroneous.

The Cohen and Levitical priests were given the authority to explain Torah concepts that were unclear to the Children of Israel. Then the Sanhedrin (70 elders) were given the authority to judge the Children of Israel based on the Torah. The Sanhedrin disbanded at the destruction of the temple; but were reinstated with less power until 353 AD. Several hundred years later, up pops two Talmuds - one in Babylon and one in Jerusalem - both different.

WORK IN PROGRESS...

2 Chronicles 29
4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the broad place on the east;
5 and said unto them: 'Hear me, ye Levites: now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of YHWH, the God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
6 For our fathers have acted treacherously, and done that which was evil in the sight of YHWH our God, and have forsaken Him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of YHWH, and turned their backs.
7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt-offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.

Psalms Chapter 78
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born; who should arise and tell them to their children,
7 That they might put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;
8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9 The children of Ephraim were as archers handling the bow, that turned back in the day of battle.
10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;
11 And they forgot His doings, and His wondrous works that He had shown them.

Jeremiah Chapter 23
23 Am I a God near at hand, saith YHWH, and not a God afar off?
24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith YHWH. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith YHWH.
25 I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in My name, saying: 'I have dreamed, I have dreamed.'
26 How long shall this be? Is it in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, and the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?
27 That think to cause My people to forget My name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal.
28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath My word; let him speak My word faithfully. What hath the straw to do with the wheat? saith YHWH.
29 Is not My word like as fire? saith YHWH; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith YHWH, that steal My words every one from his neighbour.
31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith YHWH, that use there tongues and say: 'He saith.'
32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy lying dreams, saith YHWH, and do tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies, and by their wantonness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them; neither can they profit this people at all, saith YHWH.
33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying: 'What is the burden of YHWH?' then shalt thou say unto them: 'What burden! I will cast you off, saith YHWH.'
34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say: 'The burden of YHWH', I will even punish that man and his house.
35 Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother: 'What hath YHWH answered?' and: 'What hath YHWH spoken?'
36 And the burden of YHWH shall ye mention no more; for every man's own word shall be his burden; and would ye pervert the words of the living God, of YHWH of hosts our God?
37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet: 'What hath YHWH answered thee?' and: 'What hath YHWH spoken?'
38 But if ye say: 'The burden of YHWH'; therefore thus saith YHWH: Because ye say this word: 'The burden of YHWH', and I have sent unto you, saying: 'Ye shall not say: The burden of YHWH';
39 therefore, behold, I will utterly tear you out, and I will cast you off, and the city that I gave unto you and to your fathers, away from My presence;
40 and I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.
